Just got a Del-Ton dissy upper. For whatever reason, I feel compelled to put A1 handguards on this bad boy. I was already planning on going with the Calvary Arms C1 stock, so what's one more part?
Anyway, what's the opinion on the A1 handguards? I've done some googling and opinions seem varied. Some people think they're more comfortable than A2...some people bitch about getting their hands pinched because of the vertically split nature...saw a few people complaining about being burned by the gas tube. What says the hive? Additionally, besides http://www.uscoreplicas.net/ and http://www.sherluk.com/m16e.php, are there any other good sources out there? |

I've ordered from the first site before and they are gtg but there are plenty of other vendors out there. As for getting pinched or getting burned by the gas tube the former seems unlikely if remotely possible the latter seems almost impossible....maybe if you were to use the thumb over method and stick your thumb down one of the holes and onto the gas tube (seems like a user error as opposed to the HG's being at fault there). I personally like them but you will find we all like them here in retro land.
I think they can be found on sarco and apex also sometimes. I'm sure others will chime in on where they can be bought. |
| I built a 605 using a DPMS dissy barrel that I turned down and liked it so much I built another with a Del-Ton barrel. I wanted to turn down that barrel but couldn't get the FSB pins out. They are in there! The A1 handguards fit fine on it. A1 handguards are perfect on these barrels. They feel better and I think are more controllable than the round handguards. I haven't had any problems with them. Try it, you'll like it. |
