Who can put me in contact with Braceman? I keep hearing people on here talk about his work and how amazing he is in his craft. I have a lower receiver I would like to have engraved if possible.
Thanks in advance for your help. Brandon [email protected] |

Thanks in advance for your help. Brandon [email protected] I kinda new here, and don't know Braceman, and I certainly don't want to cut into his business But, I just had three NoDak XM16 80% Lowers engraved by Roger Donley and he did a fantastic job! Very crisp. [email protected] I can post a few pictures of his work, if you want. Dan |

I'm not sure how to post pictures but here is an example of some of his engraving work... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=473139155 Brandon Made it hot for you. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=473139155 Those are examples of whos' work? Kinda strange that he is promoting it as an A1 but did nothing to reprofile correctly. The partial fence is not supposed to extend as far as that example does.......it should stop almost exactly in the centerline/middle of the mag button. He also did not reprofile the reinforcement around the buffer tube "ear", or whatever you want to call the section that the tube threads into........nor the area under the front pivot pin ears. As far as the engraving........I've not been a big fan of engraving that is EXACT.....crisp, clear and uniform. A roll mark was never clear, crisp and exact. Rollmarks vary in depth, from the beginning of a line of text to the end of that same line. Whatever floats someone's boat though. |

The profile in front of the trigger guard opening is wrong too, looks like he just milled off the fence and called it good. |

I've seen his stuff on GB before never posted it here for obvious reasons. Made the same observations as you guys. The engraving don't look bad but it'd be nice if it was profiled properly. No cigar. At least he's not the guy that has similar quality stuff on GB and calls himself an "Artist "

I don't know, if thats the case or not, but what I do know is he has had a lot of practice, and I am pleased every time I get my lowers back. |

Don’t compare my stuff to his just because we both sell on GB. I purposely use a 60 degree bit and vary the character depth and kerning to best duplicate the original rollmarks. Take a look at some of my closeup pics there on GB and you can see the difference. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=471846007 I’ve reprofiled the front takedown lugs and right side fences on a number of them. Heck, I even did a few that were totally slabside including right side slabside 1958 Stoner Armalite prototypes. Unfortunately, the market (at least on GB) does not reward such extra work. As far as I know, the only folks making true 80% A1 profile lowers is NDS. Factor in the cost of one of those vs. a standard modern 80% lower these days as your starting point, and its easy to realize that price sensitivity is a factor here. |
