What is the purpose of the black elastic cover over the hand guard on Israeli clone?. Some have an additional green band as well. Thanks

I'm curious too. All my front band on the hand guards does is annoy me.
It moves forward when shooting. Then you have to pull it back to the
center of the h/g's.

It's supposed to prevent you from burning your hand after your rifle's sat in the hot sun for a bit.

i thought it was for anti-rattle (not that the handguards rattle much). they have the same band covering the lever on the CAR stock.

heat reduction would make sense too since the stock piece would protect your cheek as well.

maybe for both purposes.
