Well, it has taken me an embarrassingly long time to get my 601 out to the range.  I finished the build in September 2013, and today was my first time shooting it.  I know. . .

Anyway, it went well.  I got it sighted in to 100 yards.  I was probably making 8" groups at that distance, but I'm to blame for that more than the gun is.  At least those groups were centered.

I also brought out my Garand.  I've shot it a bunch before, but it's fun.  Between the two of them, I got a lot of attention from one of the rangemasters as well as a few other shooters.  Just after getting the 601 on paper at 25 yards, one guy asked me how much I wanted for it.  Another pair of guys came over saying they'd been talking about building something retro just the other day.  I encouraged them to join up here, and let them shoot the 601 a bit.  They really liked it.

Anyway, not much to show, I can never get good shots of my guns at the bench, but here you go:

(The gun with the tan furniture in the last photo there belonged to one of the guys that was so interested in the 601)

Well, I'd say go look at my build post, but since that was last posted in a year and a half ago, I guess that is a little unrealistic of me to expect.

OlGunner, the barrel is an MP 12, with a shaved down front sight.  Not correct, but close enough for me.
Oh, and that's your old stock.

Edit: And here's another old thread, which shows the furniture before it got cleaned up (Bottom set in the first picture):

Beautiful pair .  My 601 was my first retro, it's undue gone a few overhauls
Over many years and I've still never shot it.
Seems if I have 100$ on my for ammo I would usually rather buy parts.

Ya, I often find myself in the same position, and usually end up buying parts instead.

It's neat to see how some people at the range or GS react to old 601's.  It's like seeing an old girlfriend and suddenly wanting her back.  Instant lust.
