I have been toying with the idea of getting an A1 style rifle for quite some time now, having normally lurked in the A2 section or in building flat-top rifles. But recently have gotten bitten by the bug to have one. I was able to trade off my WASR 10/63 AK for a C MP Chrome barrel A1 upper marked "D" & "K" on a Bushmaster lower. Unfortunately it didn't have the correct style stock on it. But thankfully BoyWonder helped me out with that, and now she is sitting the way she is intended to, minus the fact that she still has an A2 style lower instead of an A1 (haven't gotten around to getting an A1 lower yet from Nodak and don't feel comfortable enough to do the alterations myself).  Information wise, I don't know awhole lot about these style rifles but it has quickly become one of my favorites to take to the range. Think I'm going down a long dark road....and loving every minute of it!

Welcome to the forum, and very cool stock he got you. I like the rack numbers.

I'd suggest ordering a Nodak lower (or two, or more) now and start gathering parts and knowledge. I've been hanging in the retro forum for about the past year and a half, and have since gained custody of a 603, a 604, a Colt SP1 carbine and a pile of parts for a XM177 clone. I need to get my trust submitted so I build that one correctly. I've also put together an all FN (except for lower) A2 clone, but we won't talk about that here.
