| After my DPMS purchase and subsequent charging handle issue, can anyone tell me about K forge code uppers? |
|
Quoted:
If the area to the left of the K looks like it has been milled off or refinished, it is a DK upper which was a GI replacement upper. It is not Diemaco as some have thought previously. i think if it's been removed, it means more than likely it's commercial. in another thread, it was speculated that the DK forgings may have had an overrun and sold on the commercial market and some weren't finished to spec. they didn't want their rep to take a hit and removed the D portion from raw forgings going to the commercial market after that. |

So I shouldn't get one? |

After my DPMS purchase and subsequent charging handle issue, can anyone tell me about K forge code uppers? Why do you care who the raw forging came from? Fit and finish issues stem from the company that did the machining, not the place that forged the blanks, and the forge code tells you nothing about where or by whom the upper was machined. |

So if DK forgings aren't Diemaco...what are they? A lot of sources, including right here, assert that they are Diemaco/Kaiser. I have one, heck maybe two, I'll have to go take a look, they seem to work fine. I have seen this subject come up quite frequently over the years on this and other boards. The only place that says that they are NOT Diemaco/Kaiser is right here in the retro forum. I'm not talking about the stylized D, everyone agrees that they are Diemaco. I have complete faith in the experts of the retro forum. The wealth of knowledge here is astounding at times. Who made them? Who used the D forge code? Somebody knows the specifics. eta I forgot to add that Biggerhammer says it's Bushmaster and Diemaco/Kaiser http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/uppers/ |
| My information came from this forum also. Mainly Rebelrouser who is a member of Canadian Military and an expert on Colt Canada/ Diemaco. He has assured us several times that DK was not Diemaco. I do think the DK is a fine upper. It just won't be as desirable as a Colt or a Diemaco. My own C7 upper assembled fine. But I never shot it before I changed the configuration. |

Yup, I get that.... I am trying to figure this all out. I didn't ask before I bought the DPMS upper an didn't know there were quality issues. So now I will be asking until I know what I am getting into, before I buy. |
