| Would it be wrong to machine my M231 upper into a 604 style. I want to do a slickside carbine but haven't had luck finding an upper at a price I'm willing to pay. I'll never build an M231 so it's not much use to me as it is. I know it is sacrilege to screw up retro parts around here, but really, how many people want to build an M231? So, go for it or find a home for the upper with someone who appreciates it? |

sure as you do, the 231 will become the next "gotta have one"and you'll kick yourself.
if your sure you'll never build one, place a ad in the want to trade for a 603 or 604 upper. i'd think someone would trade. there will never be any more that there are now, ever. |

IMHO, my vote's "no." People used to say that about just about everything we clone in this forum these days. "No one wants a crappy 1/14 barrel with this junky green furniture - there's rust on the handguards, too." ~Augee So, are you saying don't do it? I would hate to see a bunch of M231 uppers milled this way, but I've thought about doing something similar (but not for rear sights). |
