Hello all,,,, well like the  title says, I recently gave the 601 a facelift .
I've had a type A stock for a long time that I bought with the intention
Of using it as a template to make more type As out of wood. Ones that could
Be wrapped in the fiberglass weave and used on my prototype,
But it was time to paint it and use it. John Thomas did a awesome
Job on the paint .

Next it was time to swap out the nodak lower with 80% lower ,
Supplied by the braceman.
Now I don't think the white lettering was standard ,
But I have seen pics of real ones with and without ,,,
So why not.

Next came the grenade sight , another custom creation
From braceman.

Enjoy .

Damn. That is like a whole new rifle there. Excellent work on all of it. That grenade sight is attention getting.

Looks fantastic. I can't believe that grenade sight. I have a similar project I need to contact him about if he can do that! Sweet 601 brother.

Now thats a different way of bringing it all together.  Great job.  May have to change my opinion of grenade sights.  Guess it's the Yugo SKS turn off stuck in my head.  Fantastic attention to detail and utilization of parts / resources.  White inside engraving on your build looks much better than most the ternderfoot jobs I've seen.  I'd say your build appearance is as good as any of the 01 clones I've seen, even if not 100% parts correct.  Probably didn't cost $4K either.  Again very nice job to all involved.

Thank you sir ! Ya very little of the gun are original 601 parts, except the stock,
Carrier, carrier pin and maybe the bolt, I'm not sure.
The upper and barrel are mid 70s ( I think) sp1. All lower
Parts are heat& beat, and all upper gunsmithing was done
By John Thomas after I got it , ya I bought it  mostly complete.

I don't have the patience to build a all original 601, nor
Do I want to spend that much on it. Nothing against the guys who do,
Thosr rifles are the benchmarks, but I've got too many I want to do.

I'm pretty much done with it, but I would really love to
Find a cast FSB

Very, very nice.

That "braceman" is a master of his craft.  He has created some excellent items for me as well.

Excellent build Trimdad!
The white in the artwork really looks great.  I haven't tried that (other than putting a little black paint in the faux sear engraving).
