So I picked up these two CMP C barrels for dirt cheap since they had been demilled by smashing the muzzle.  I cut the bad section off then rethreaded them....using the shortest one for a faux 605 upper..mainly as a dedicated M261 .22 upper.  It REALLY likes bulk federals!

However I'm thinking about doing a Menusar IDF "pistol" build....chopping one down since it's not good for anything else...I do have a spare M4 HG cap laying around and an A1 upper or two and some 604's....

The two barrels on top with a CMP B carbine barrel for comparison.

Any reason NOT to chop this barrel further??  Just asking in case I've overlooked something...

Please see http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=123&t=612767 and post the measurements for your barrels!

If you want some technical help on where to cut to get the correct muzzle profile I can help out.  Also, the link above will let you know how much of the mid section of the barrel you'll need to turn down.  PM if you want to chat about gas port sizes.  I managed to get mine to work on the first shot and at the small end of the spectrum.

As long as you have room for the gas vent and other requirements go for it...

man, that would make a good 607 or xm177 barrel.  The story on where/how you found them?

Ok..looks like a thumbs up then!!

No story really... local FFL 07/02 I know always gets weird stuff.  These were in a pile of parts he got and had no use for them so I got them.
