| I posted a while ago about a cracked upper from RTI. They sent a replacement and it to was cracked but much less substantially. I believe this should be repairable while I still wait to head back about getting another replacement. The crack is in the typical place, just below the front of the ejection port on the bottom of the receiver. I understand that if that section is cracked all of the way through that this is not possible. However this crack is only have the width of that bar below the port. I checked the shelf created by the crack and its only 20 thousandths. I know that the 7075 is rather brittle and does not do well to bending but since this is such a small amount in a relatively low stress area i think it can be tweaked in place and rewelded. I have a gunsmith in town that said he would do it if i wanted. What does the collective wisdom of the retro forum say? |

Sorry to hear they shafted you again. I received an uncracked replacement upper from them, but the port door was totally trashed.
You'd think that at least one person there could sort parts properly, but I'll bet the packers have no idea what they're looking at. |
