For once we don't have to recommend a Brick moderator. Outstanding builds. The white filled markings are very nice.

I'm so jealous Mine is on hold til I can get a barrel and a gray delta ring.

Oh MAN those are BONER-IFIC!
I love the filled lettering too! |
|
Very nice! So.......how do you find time to build your own when you're machining so much for others?
|
|
Very nice. What a relief.....my eyes read the title as.......dgone.

Thanks guys!
how do you find time to build your own when you're machining so much for others? View Quote No no no, you mis-read my friend! YEARS and YEARS of collecting parts and getting things ready, just to spend 30 minutes assembling. I must admit, I was lucky to pick up so many of the parts I needed when they weren't so "popular" and expensive. Brick |

Brick...You're my idol! (And so is everyone else on this forum - so no feelings get hurt)
|
|
Brick...those are two truly sweet retros congrats and enjoy them!
|
|
Agreed - they look sweet! Nice to see some completed projects these days. I hope to have my next builds up soon!

Nice! Who made the moderators? Oops, forgot for a minute.
You just raised the bar higher. SBR question: Where did you put your markings? |
|
Damn nice work brother! I know you've been working on these for some time. I'm just not sure which I like better - the 649 I think. Love slicksides as a rule. That reminds me I need to order a couple moderators from you - one to go to that museum in Poland. You do nice work.

Who did the horsey marking, that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!

SBR question: Where did you put your markings? View Quote Markings are inside the trigger area. Who did the horsey marking View Quote Ident did the Horsey logo. Brick |

Oh no, if it was JT's he would have the original shipping crates, original Colt shipping papers, armory tags, retirement from service tags/paperwork.........
Brick |
|
Mitch those look oustanding gonna have to get my lower sent off so i can stay in competition with yours....
Hope you make it down to the creek look forward to hanging out DREW |
|
I have posted twice in this thread who did the markings.
The white filling is from a lacquer stick obtained from Brownells. Its like a wax crayon, you rub it in. Thanks, Brick |
|
Super sweet. Hope they perform great. These look far better than the one's we did in the 90's with Hbars during the craze. The bar has definately been raised. Excellent attention to detail and personalization. Love the serial number.

Love the serial number. View Quote Ya, thats the icing on the cake! Brick |

You have some really nice weapons there. I'm planning on making a XM177 style clone myself. I've heard you make the best clone NOS type flash suppressors. If I decide not to shell out the cash for the real one I'll be contacting you. Here are my plans for my clone. Let me know if you have any advise. I'm using a Colt M4A1 lower though. http://pics.gunbroker.com/GB/395401000/395401878/pix888266220.jpg http://www.autoweapons.com/photosv/m16a2comupa.jpg COLT M16A2 COMMANDO UPPER AND 11.5"BBL http://www.autoweapons.com/photos/accys/m4hndgardinsul.jpg COLT M4 "FAT" DOUBLE INSULATED DUAL LINED CARBINE HANDGUARDS http://www.autoweapons.com/photos/accys/coltmodsupc.jpg COLT XM177E2 MODERATOR SUPPRESSOR GRENADE LAUNCHING WASHER http://www.autoweapons.com/photos12/jan/vk264modb.jpg COLT "NOS" PROTO TYPE "X" SERIAL NUMBER XM177E2 MODERATOR http://www.autoweapons.com/photosn/photosnov04/nov13039.jpg COLT M16A2 RIFLE FACTORY ACCESSORY PACK http://www.autoweapons.com/photos05/jan/jan1026.jpg COLT COLLAPSING CARBINE,COMMANDO AND SMG SHOULDER STOCK FOOT ASSY. View Quote Aside from using the wrong lower, wrong upper, wrong handguards, wrong stock for an xm177 clone ,you are pretty close. I know, I sound like a dick...........but if you want a 177 clone you have to at least get close. I don't know much about some of the newer models...........the one's that start with a 7, but I would think you are closer to one of those than a 600 series Colt. edit........and wrong grip edit again.........I am a dick. After reading OlGunners post down below it made me realize that I was critical without offering constructive advice. So, with that in mind, if you do want an xm177 clone/style carbine then you should opt for an A1 lower, although an A2 would work until said time that a "hard to find/get" A1 is available......the A2 gets a pass. ....you need an A1/603 upper receiver (one without the Brunton bump) ...handguards should be skinny version, specifically 6 hole) ...stock was vinyl acetate coated aluminum (any aluminum would get a pass) .....A1 grip With all that said, you can certainly build it any way you want, but it wouldn't be an xm177 with the parts you have........which is OK......but it would be closer to a 727 ??? |

And there's cerainly nothing wrong with that. A few guys in here have built some of the 700 series carbines. They probably allow the use of more common or available parts. It's like when I was into hotrodding 40 years ago. We searched and built certain models, and others were passed on as not really being worthy of hotrodding............and as all the "worthy" ones were scarfed up, more and more other models were then considered acceptable.
