Olgunner just sent me an email about the 602 receivers I'm selling on the EE.  His question was above the tang where the charging handle runs, is it angled like a 601 or rounded like the 603 and other later models.  Well, it turns out both kinds were made.  Out of the 6 receivers I'm selling, 5 had the angled tang area while 1 had the rounded area.  Of course I promised Olgunner I would snap a picture for you all so here it is:

Hope this helps with any historical information I can provide before all these uppers go their own way.

Many thanks, Cop!
That's in keeping with what I've seen, but I was hoping for support since yours is the biggest group of 602 uppers I've ever seen at one time.
My believe is that early 602s had the angled CH tang with corresponding triangular CH, which changed to the "modern" CH and rounded tang later in the 02 production run.
The dust cover is the other question--I believe later 02s had the "rectangular" pads.

Hey, as long as you have all those goodies in your hands, I encourage you to grab as many photographs as possible!

Sure wish we had garage sales like that around here!

I've wanted a 602 upper for years, but until someone tells me they're made of platinum, I think current pricing I've seen lately is about 2X what they are worth. Great pic though, and I appreciate the OP's time to share this info. Greatly appreciated. I also like the insight into the receiver profiling. I would be interested to know if the earlier, angled profile is also the darker finish,  and the later, rounded profile is greyer.

BTW, anyone notice anything odd about the sight aperture on the RH receiver in the original pic? One more thing - notice how similar the cutout at the rear carry handle is in size/shape to the angled rear of the LH receiver? Seems like they were cut with the same tool. I never noticed that before. Again, OP, thanks for the pic! (Veltro, you too - that is worth drooling over.)

I have a faux 601 that a board member did for me but found a real one later. Will probably sell the faux 601 upper. It's stripped and has been re anodized.
