I'm new to the retro thing, guys..so forgive me, as I've read a ton of stuff today about Colt upper markings. Did some Colt "C7" (actually called "A2 with field sight", right?) upper receivers come with no forge code under the sight, and ONLY a triangle proof mark (no C in a square) in front of the ejection port? I've read that some Colts didn't have the CH or other forge codes, but it seems that everything I've come across shows all having the square/C proof.

Thanks!

I have a 603 upper (not C7) like that and have seen others. Yes. I also had an unmarked Colt C7 upper as you describe, but I don't remember if it was proofed or not.

hahaha fastswift - I was wondering if you'd see this thread and take it as me not trusting your word not that! In all my searching I just haven't found another like yours.

If I were working right now OP, and had seen that ad the other day (which I did) you never would have gotten the chance to post this thread. Nice upper.

I've got an L M coded upper without proof marks.  I'm led to believe that it's a logistics package spare that was not part of an assembled gun and proof fired at the factory, so no factory proof marks.

This is correct but one pictured had verified proof mark just no visible Colt stamp.  Definately not unheard of.  Many stampings were very faint,  some are hidden under an arsenal refinish also.  Usually boils down to who did the stamping.  Double and triple strikes and just as boggling.
