I don't have any personal experience, but I have heard the "R" stands for "Run away!"

I have ordered from them.

The first order was some bakelite ak mags.

The second order was some more bakelite mags and what was advertised as a top condition Russian ak bayonet.

The mags were fine as before but the bayonet looked like it had literally been run through a wood planer. A dull wood planar

They ignored several emails and after the third written letter responded with an email. After shipping it back they did send me another on.

It took a great deal of persistance on my part.

It took about a month and a half to get the first response.

This wasnt in the middle of anything like now.

I ordered something from them Dec 1. I haven't heard a thing and they don't respond to emails.....On the same note, I ordered a LW barrel from JT the same day and haven' heard anything on that one either.

They had some issues 3-4 years back that had a lot of people hopping mad.

To be fair, I cannot remember the details, but try a google search and see what turns up.

A couple years ago I stopped into their store to see if they had a couple of selector detent springs in stock. I walked in and started checking out their display case/counter. There were two younger guys sitting behind the counter and neither one even said hi. After checking out their displays I finally ask one of the guys if they have any detent springs and without even getting up to talk to me he says "nope, we don't have any." I felt like I was bothering him. He never offered to check, he never asked if I needed anything else, nothing. The other guy just looked at me. Right then I decided that if they can't even pretend to be interested in my business they must not need my business.

Not usually the best rep for customer service has always been the word.  Think they will deliver what you order but frenzy has made things timely.  Rguns LPK's and lowers used to be a little out of spec but functional and cheap.  Blems?  I installed 20 or 25 of their stainless LPK's for a customer. They worked.  I don't own any.   As we know most the stuff comes from the same few subs anyway.  For the most part I've had good success with most every site vendor, SGN ad vendor and actually had more problems with the top tier,  big coin vendors on my end.  Their reputations seemed much better than the finish product to me and I was probably expecting too much for the coins.   I'll give them the slipped though the crack benefit.  Rguns would be considered very low tier at best IMO.  Think all can turn out something real good and something not real good.

Ordered a Retro Upper with the A1 handguard, A1 flash hider, 20" Pencil Barrel on 12/31. Sent two emails with no response for the invoice shows a TRR15A3 which is a Flat Top upper as it should be a TRR15A1. I once order a K98 and M91/30 stock set a year a ago with zero issue.

They are swamped like everyone else. Before the latest mayhem I ordered all manner of mags and accessories from them and nary a problem. A week ago I even threw an order in the pot for mags I know can't be in stock anymore. But what the hell they don't charge the card until/if it ships anyway. Just plan on not getting the stuff and if you do its like christmas all over again ha,ha.

In spring 2012, I bought a NiB coated BCG, charging handle, and A2 flash hider from RGuns.  I had no problems with my order.  My friendly neighborhood FFL found me a NiB coated upper/lower set.  While he got them from AIM Surplus, they were actually from RGuns, too.
All those RGuns parts have worked fine for me.  I used the lower and the BCG with a DPMS (IIRC) upper, shooting a 20-30 rounds a week, all last summer, and they made it all the way to the end of the summer - without cleaning - before I had any issues, and that only happened with some lightweight varmint loads (Hornady 53 grain V-MAX Superfomance Varmint, to be exact).

In any case, AIM does seem to carry RGuns stuff, so perhaps that's an option if RGuns has something you want, but you're worried about all the negative feedback about them.

I used to live near them.  They are very very small with only one or two employees. Like has been said I'm sure they are swamped.  I have one of there upper and a few lowers.  As good as any of the smaller guys.

There are better places to spend your money.  R Guns lost me a few years ago on H&K parts.......then like a fool I tried to deal with them on Kimber handguns.........then again on Thompson sub parts........Never more.............they are a fairly large size FFL but Roger doesn't have a close supervisory style and his people skills can suck.

If you want to buy a calendar from him, I'd say ok.........high cap mags or ammo or big ticket items..........look elsewhere.

Your results may vary...........

I order The 20 inch Retro upper with pencil profile barrel, A1 Handguard and A1 flash hider on 12/23/12  ,   TRR15A3  , hope its not a flat top,  i haven't e-mailed them yet, cause their web site says  allow 8 weeks for orders.  Never dealt with them, but wanted a clone. Guess wait and see ?

Might as well throw my $.02 in.

I bought a few lowers the day of the election and Rguns seemed to be the only place with any complete uppers in stock. I ordered two (one in stock and one out of stock). The lower listed as in stock was a 20" 5.56 upper for my A3 build. I placed the order roughly around mid-December (between the 14th and 21st). The site had dozens of warnings about how I shouldn't expect anything quickly, don't bother them with mail, and stuff like that. They do at least update their site.

They don't charge until they are "ready to ship." I was charged on the 15th and the upper was delivered (I wasn't home) on the 25th. With the holiday and a weekend, that's reasonable shipping time. The order was properly packed and the fit and finish is great for the price.

I know they have a horrible reputation and I went in not expecting much. I am pleasantly surprised. I didn't get any communication beyond the initial e-mail confirmation but I didn't expect any. The shipping was reasonable, the price was good, and the product is good. I'm not suggesting anybody else's experience will be better or worse but given the times and their reputation I really can't complain.

All things considered the bottom line is that I would definitely buy from them again. There's a chance that something goes horribly wrong with the other upper, but for now I'm happy.

If the upper is in great shape, the round FA button wouldn't bother me too much; the tear-drop style are easy to find.

Alright GI-45 , will give it my best when i get a chance!   Thanks for your reply. I know pics mean alot. Correct, the case deflector, aka brass bump, did not exist during the Vietnam era. What you have is basically a Canadian C7 upper. Still cool, still retro:

Considering all the panic-buying that's going on, with no end in sight, I'd be happy to have any upper in good condition at this point!

hay ass hat it CLEARLY states may apply. this would have gone by monday so have a nice day

Kinda tried to give heads up on their customer service without going into too many details.  They did tell you to have a nice day!  Spelling leads a little to be desired but they got ass hat right.  (hay!)  Rumor has it that they really cater to the larger firearms purchases.  I've gotten kinda spoiled with the surplus Colt retro parts over the years and they really don't offer much for me.  I was more impressed with Blackthorne than Rgun parts and that may not be a good thing.

The rimmed Russian ammo has been as economical as anybody.  Haven't bought any from them as I hope to have enough to last me a lifetime.  My Mosin is getting towards retirement age.  Unless I purchase something belt fed/ linked,  I'm good.  Thought of a semi build has crossed my mind.  Does seem the cans I've opened have a few corroded rds in them.

I place my order on 12/19 they charged my card on 1/15, 1/29 they said it was in the shipping process I sent them and email today and told them if I don't recieve my stuff by 2/13 or a shipping tracking number I am cancelling my order.  I would really just like to get my upper and be done with them.  They should not charge orders until they are ready to ship.
