Hi, all! My first post in the retro forum, and I have what may seem a silly question:

Is there any bad ju-ju with having an A1 upper that's seen better days stripped and re-anodized? I guess what I am asking is, is it like sporterizing a K-31 or anything evil like that? I know it's mine and I can do whatever I want with it, but just wondering what the consensus was, if any?

The upper in question is from one of the SG kits. It's a medium-light grey right now, a little rough but totally serviceable by my count. I would like to have it re-anodized to the current spec and build it into an A1.5 (A2 lower, A1 upper and furniture).

If I wanted to I could return this kit, wait around and try to snag the perfect parts for my purpose. However, given the current political climate and supply back-ups, I have decided I'd rather restore a little respect to this old soldier. Plus it's not all bad - the furniture (buttplate aside) and BCG are looking pretty good.

Thanks all!

Send it to John Thomas (member here) to have it anodized.  US Anodizing is another option but they are not taking outside work at the moment.

No, a lot of folks here have to do it for one reason
Or another. I've gone with 80% lowers for most of my
Projects and surplus colt uppers, all will have to be stripped
And finished with the lowers

Thanks to you both! A quick search yielded his contact info, so I'll fire off an email to him right away.

I'll have to make-do with a Del-Ton un-chromed barrel and F-marked FSB for now as I refuse to pay freak-out prices Time will determine if I have that option long-term.
