I plan on getting a Daniel Defense or JT Distributing 11.5 or longer ltwt profile carbine barrel and having ADCO cut it down and thread it. I plan on reprofiling the FSB and cutting the bayo lug myself. I really think this is pretty much the only option. I nearly did this to a NIW Colt 14.5" carbine barrel, but it seemed like such a waste I sold it to a member here who really wanted it. I also have more 1:7 barrels in the barn lately and am reevaluating ammo selection. Having some heavier grain around means having guns that can handle it. I like the idea of an XM177E1 that can handle anything I throw at it. Mind you, everything else will be as correct as I can make it, but I never really understood the '2-position stock' thing either. I mean, I do, but I don't. Practicality rules my world. Of course, i really prefer 1-position stocks. |

J&T sells a lightweight "10.5"" barrel that looks the part for an E1 build.
Check here. The pic looks correct for a 10" build. You'll have to shave off the bayonet lug though. |

Sure looks like a 10" barrel doesn't it? I'd verify that first though. Easier to have a slightly longer barrel cut down than one just barely over. |

Help!!! I,m wanting to get my SBR a little more proper (XM177e1 type) It has a 10.5" Heavy barrel. I would like to get a 10" light barrel, but cant find any. The closest thing i find is 10.3", but, it is still heavy. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l216/gordog_2006/xm1772.jpg How long is the FH on this? Is total barrel length 16 or is this a sbr? I'm gonna be in the market soon to build one of these |
