Just saw this, seemed like a decent deal...Not mine  A little worn, but would be a good scope for a shooter.

How much are the old Chi-com knock-offs worth?

OK, this one is interesting to me.  The general shape and most details of this look right, but with two noticeable differences.

First, the texture is wrong, but it looks like it may have been painted or coated with something of a not-quite-black color.  One shot shows some wear through the top coat and it may be black underneath.  So I could accept that as not being a definitive "fake" tell.

But then there's the logo.  It's engraved, thin-lines, and has no space between the characters in "4x20".  That looks more like the logo on the early 3x scopes than the 4x.   Every 4x I've seen have the "screen printed" logo, with thick white lines on the surface, and they have spaces in "4 x 20".

I'm not in the market for this myself, but like I said––this interests me because I usually feel (reasonably) qualified to identify knock-offs.
What am I not seeing here?
And has anyone seen a 4x with the engraved logo?

i actually ran across a 4x engraved either nib or lnib.  paid a pretty penny for it as i've never seen one before but it's legit.  i always thought they went from engraved 3x20 to screened 3x20 to screened 4x20 but they either made engraved 3x20 and 4x20 at the same time or decided to go back to engraving the 4x's at a later time.

this one does look painted and the front almost looks like it has that rubber bedliner sprayed on it.

I think it's legit. IIRC my 3x20 is engraved but has color fill. I'll check this weekend.

I noticed he is in Canada, maybe a export variant?  I'm not too up on these type scopes, they just never caught my fancy for some reason..
