| I've got an old A1 type Colt that has the triangular handguards with heat shields. is there anyplace i can get a replacement set? |

Quoted: Are you looking for new? If so, try Sir Plus Supply. If not, check the EE as stated above. +1 for Sir Plus Supply; that's where I got mine: http://stores.homestead.com/hstrial-Serspeniuk/Detail.bok?no=75 They're 1980s production, if that matters, but pretty much all new A1 handguard sets will be no older than the 1980s. |

Quoted: dose any one know a new manufacturer, I don't want to waste originals on my next build and i would like a set in fde if possible. If you're talking about '80s production, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Early '60s no-drain-hole models, now that's different. |

lol - thanks for the replies. i never knew there were so many out there.
my dept has 6 old military surplus (gema) guns of the old A1 style and one of the guns got run over and the stock cracked....long story....anyway, just need one set of the triangular handguards as a replacement so if anybody wants to get rid of a decent set (i'll duracoat them anyway) PM me and let me know what ya want for 'em....right now about the cheapest i've found for a decent set is $25....that a good deal? TIA |

In line, if condition is good especially if shipping is included. Shouldn't have chips or cracks but paint will probably cover any scratches.. As stated above should be plenty on the EE. Think I'd contact above members who have enough for retro artwork and grab a set of used for best price since you're duracoating anyway. Even if cracked superglue, a little sanding, paint and never even know. Good luck and please don't drive over any more M-16's. Reminds me of buddy running over his phone. Glad HG's were only damage. |

Then with these you just have to ask the sellers questions cause a lot of times they will not know what they are. I just picked up 2 good (no cracks or missing teeth) sets out of the EE for $26 shipped per pair. |

I'm guessing you have a little hanger behind the closet door with lots of pairs of no drain HG's in them. Might have some different color paint or bakelite underneath the black. Amazing what one can still find and even though I don't need them I would have bought them too. Saved yourself $20-30 or spent $52 depending on how one looks at it. Is interesting how they never seem to have a mid range price. Either dirt cheap or priced through the roof. Remember when $20 was top dollar for a set. Bet you wish you had those back. |

LOL, no actually I only have one other unused pair of A1 HG's & they have drain holes. I just bought these cause they were cheap. I have no use for them now or in the foreseeable future, but they will be here if I do find a use for them. |
