How many of you guys remember rat patrol? When you were 9 to 11 years old that was the greatest show on TV. Lets hear your thoughts on the show.

I remember watching it on cable when I was a kid. Tbs I think.  This was back when the "remote" had a cable!

It was a cool show.

I remember the reruns on network TV in the mid 70's. And yes that was pre cable.

Great show. I wanted to run the machine gun in the jeeps.

At 7 I figured out firing a .50 at a  tank(M7HMC) wasnt brilliant, nor throwing pineapple grenades either. That and wondered why the Schmiessers had barrel jackets. Had the 1/72 model kits

I loved that show, and just finished watching it all again from the DVD's I got from Walmart for $10 a season.  Always wanted a RP replica jeep, but WWII jeeps are out of sight now days...

I have the entire series on DVD as well and it's available from Netflix too...don't know about streaming though.

I remember the show as being much cooler than it really was.

I wasn't allowed.

It wasn't the same when Dietrich showed up as Victor Newman on Young and the Restless.

I always wanted to try the opening scene where the jeep jumped the sand dune with Dad's '63 Rambler, but he wouldn't try it. Then I got my license.

I don't remember "Rat Patrol".

I remember "Rat Patrol: *IN COLOR!*"

Same here. I jumped at the chance to buy all 3 seasons.

Seasons 2 and 3 ate still unopened after all these months. It just didn't hold up to time very well.

Absolutely. Rat Patrol and Thunderbirds. It was probably a subliminal message from the execs at Jeep to get us to buy Grand Cherokees 30 years later.

You know that's what ended the show right? One of those jeep jumps turned into a mishap in filming. Couple of the main actors were killed/ permanently injured. All four of them were in a single vehicle IIRC.

TV Remotes had a cable?  I thought I was the remote?  "Junior, change the channel.  Junior, the volume.  Junior, a coke"

I grew up, bought my own tv, and i cant find the coke button on my remote.  *dislike*

First run all those years ago, you had to wait a week until the next episode.  That and the commercial breaks helped build the excitement.  Now, when I sit and watch 3 or 4 episodes in one sitting, I don't become 12 years old again.  We also expect gorier special effects and more realistic portrayals of injuries and deaths.  Sigh.

It IS on Netflix on-demand.
I've watched several episode with my 12 year old.
Too bad it scares my 5 year old daughter (explosions and shooting) or else we'd get to watch it more often.
She doesn't mind when we shoot firearm, her included, but when people get shot and they scream and there's fire and explosions she doesn't like it.
you know you gotta turn up the volume!

Yes I do remember it, should have bought the .50 Cal for the jeep,  problem is that i would have taken a ton of AL cans and soda bottles to buy one

My sentiments exactly

Now are they 602's or 604's ?

Banshee.....If you can find one with the M16's, it may be more valuable because of the goof.

Time, money or parts? What do you need parts-wise?

Rat Patrol was my older brother's favorite show.  I'm thinking late 60's possibly early 70's.  All we had was one black and white family (dad's) TV set but all three kids were allowed one definate show a week and Rat Patrol was his.  One whole show a week.  Wow!  Sad I don't remember my show ( probably Andy Griffith or The Big Velley).  Beverly Hillbillies was better than Hee Haw.  Have Gun was cool and then there were the classic Saturday cartoons and wrestling.  Rick Flair was like in his late 20's and somebody else (Buddy?) was the Nature Boy.

Don't know if it's still at my parents house but my brother had a Rat Patrol box set that had two minature jeeps with machine guns,  two or three minature tanks at least one Panzer and one Tiger tank,  I remember they had German markings on them and possibly some toy soldiers.  Will have to ask him at Easter.  Rat Patrol!  WOW!   One of my favorite war shows was "Combat" with Vic Morrow possibly pre-retro.  Think I'll listen to some acoustic guitar Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page).

All four were injured, but not killed. George's heart was injured, which led to his premature heart attack a number of years later.

Mostly time.

It ran when I bought it, but the body was toast.

Bing the anal retentive, German-Swiss, Capricorn I am, I decided to buy a new body kit and do a frame-off restoration...................

The frame needs new spring brackets and shock pegs, fitting of the new front bumper, then sandblasting and painting.

I have already replaced the rear cross-member and battery tray.

My plan is to make it into an IDF / Rat Patrol style long range recon jeep.

Kinda like this, but without the Lewis guns.

Or this:

I barely remember the show.  In fact, really all I remember is the jeeps racing across the desert and the Title popping up on the screen.  I was probably 5 or 6, late '70s.  I also remember watching Combat with my dad and Grandpa.  They would trade highly censored war stories with each other when I was in the room watching.  (Dad a Marine Nam vet, Grandpa WWII Army Europe vet)
