So my Dad had bought a A1 upper for me to build into a M16A1. I did not realize it was a C7 until too late. I then found him a M16A1 upper and built his upper as seen in this thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_123/566409___Updates_with_M16A1_upper_pics_____60__completed_A1_with_a_question.html
I had the C7 laying around in the garage and decided to use it to build a 605 "inspired" clone. Built it last night and sighted it in this morning.
I may grind off the bump on the Lone Star grip to make it more A1-ish, that or just buy a A1 grip. |

I like it! I love rifles that are assembled from various odd parts. The only things I would change would the be trigger guard and remove those KNS pins. Yeah, once my Dad buys a Nodak lower and LPK I will put the basic lower that he is using on this rifle. |

for your 605ish build, I'd suggest you cut it down like this one a made awhile back

I'll skip the cut then and keep that grip on that lower (I do love the larger size of the Lone Star). I'll get a A1 grip a little later. Good grief crackedcornish I thought I had a bunch of those. How did you end up with so many? good decision on the grip!! as to the A2's, some are leftovers from LPK's that I've purchased over the years, and some come from a lot of RRA parts I bought from a dealer who was closing up shop...so basically they are all brand new and just waiting to become collectable

That looks much nicer! +1 Plus I prefer the fixed A1 stock for nearly everything. I use a simple GP style sling for quick transitions - faster than tacticool slings and carries across the chest effortlessly. I recently bought a Sully stock but find it's heavy, and almost too short. Thinking about drilling it and adding a 1" spacer. Collapsibles are popular for a reason, and if I were using body armor, I might not like the A1 stock so much, but for me it really works, and I'm 5'6". |
