Had to rob my (still unfinished) 601 upper and lowerer just to see how it will look. Wont buy the NDS-32 upper until a proto sight comes out.

Nope, i didnt make these.  www.nodakspud.com sells them in a 2 piece configuration that attaches to the rifle with the modern delta ring configuration. I modified them to a one piece that works and look like the original Portugese AR-10 model.

Quite a few peeps have asked how i did this mod. I wish i would have taken pics, but,,,, Oh Well!      I basically have the barrel nut, spring and snap ring assembled and holding the barrel on the receiver. I then used automotive panel adhesive to glue a flat slip ring to the handguards. The slip ring had the inside diameter cut out so that it will fit over the barrel nut when installing the handguards. The first ring inside of the handguards was also removed (dremel works great) to fit over the barrel nut . I left the original nubs inside of the handguards so that they would lock onto the barrel nut once the handguards are slipped over the barrel.  I then taped smooth cardboard around the circumference of the handguards and filled the space between the slip-ring and the cardboard with panel adhesive. Panel adhesive is an industrial use glue that is actually used to bond qtr panels on vehicles without welding. (AWESOME Stuff) After removing the cardboard 99% of your job is finished. Next i used automotive body filler for final filling of low spots. I chucked up the handguards in a lathe for final shaping. For the muzzle end, i used panel adhesive to bond the round cap to the handguards and also did appropriate filling and shaping. I hope this helps clarify the way that i did it. Good luck guys. Eric
