I ordered this book off Amazon –– I hope it lives up the reviews. In my estimation, Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes is the real deal. Very little gun talk. No photos. But it puts you in the bush. No red dots, night vision, or GPS. Just brave young men armed to the teeth with some "vintage military gear" fighting an organized and professional collection of soldiers on their home turf. In the jungle. At night. Thousands of miles from home. |
