I will be doing my first Retro build soon.

I want this build to be as close to a G.I. M-16A1 as legally possible.

My NDS lower has not returned from the engraver yet.

I do not want to use AR-15 semi auto parts, I want to use military M-16 full auto parts that have been modified to work in the semi-Auto mode only.

My question ?
Who can I send the Colt lower parts 1# hammer,2# selector,3# disconnector,4# trigger, to, to have them modified ?
Thanks,
Alfred

You can do it with a dremel on your own in about 15 minutes.

How do you fill in the rear of the trigger area ?

I would rather have someone do it that has done it before I don't want to mess up good COLT parts.

Texsquirrel should be the man in that neck of the woods.

I don't have an answer on how to fill in the trigger, but the rest of the parts can be hand filed (and hard to screw up).

For the disconnecter, you can hack saw off the tail (in red) and file smooth.
For the hammer, you can file down the nub on the back until flat with the tail.
For the Selector, remove the nub highlighted in red.
You can leave the carrier alone.

I wonder why modify most of them when a standard commodity LPK has perfectly fine parts.

The only exception I see is the selector because of the tick marks and in some cases dimples.  The rest of the fire control parts are cosmetically the same from the outside and the innards will be different regardless.

I modded my M16 innards because, like the OP, I wanted my build to be a close as possible to the real deal.  It cost more in the long run, but It was just something I wanted to do at the time.

I noticed something curious in that parts diagram.
What's going on with the disconnector hook on the back of the (M16) hammer?
Just wondering why there's a 'star' pointing to that area.

M16A2 Hammer with the wider disconnector hook area for the burst cam disconnector?

Obstinance!  One of my favorite reasons for doing anything!  Carry on.
