Has anyone here put together an IDF 20" M16A1 clone? There was one done by a member whose screen name started with "Steve" and ended with a few numbers, but I can't find that thread or remember his full screen name for the life of me. Anyways, has any one else done one? I've seen a lot of IDF carbines, but only one 20" rifle.

So by the pictures posted they basically look like an A2 rifle with A1 profile barrel, A1 603 or C7 style upper, slip ring, big round FA? I'm having a hard time telling if it is a A2 or A1 stock, almost looks A1. I'm sure it could be any conglomeration of parts though couldn't it?

From the IDF Women Facebook page:

Some are 603's with the normal A1 furniture, and some are 603's with A2 handguards.

My thoughts exactly.  Appears like most of my builds are IDF.  Mix of parts and a GD sling.  Judaism making a big comeback in Africa maybe?

You're hunting for StevesZZ5.

Here's a pic (which I hope he doesn't mind me posting here) of his rifle which I hope to replicate some day.

Actually not sure if this is IDF, feel like it might have been geared towards IDF purchase because of the Elbit... also if the image quality is good enough check out the funky hand guard end-cap with what looks like built in side sling attachment points. I love this set-up! Also sorry if this pic is already up somewhere else.

Beta Israelis. They left Ethiopia b/c of the Derg regime and famines.

In the "girls of the IDF" I've seen a few pics of Ethiopian Jewish gals...some rather nice looking ones at that...can't seem to find the exact pic but the one I'm thinking of reminded me of Zoe from Firefly

It looks like they have M16A1's with both triangular and A2 handguards. Maybe they switched to the A2 handguards as the original triangular ones broke, or maybe it was user preference.

If you look at pics of the first Gulf War, there were lots of M16A1s wearing A2 handguards.  Most were Reserve and NG weapons.

About 1/4 of the M16A1s in my Reserve unit (deployed to the Gulf) wore A2 handguards. I was jealous because mine didn't.

The one with the Trijicon is an A2.
