Hey All

Im building my first retro Ar with a no dak spud lower and Dpms Parts Kit. I have a large hole upper and when i placed the bushing in it which it fit fine, the front pivot pin would only go in half way. I find it strange since the bushing is also Dpms. Any Suggestions?

Thanks

those bushings are offset....put the front pin in first then pivot the two halves shut, then push in the rear pin

notice the hole in the bushing  offset, turn, twist, wiggle, jiggle, it'll go.
most people semi attach the bushing with something non permanent like rtv silicone.
the bushing will rotate outof its sweet spot when opening and closing, unless secured.

Thanks, should it just be placed in the upper receiver hole or should I epoxy it in place?

I like to glue mine in place with black rtv

a good non permanent solution is clear nail polish to hold it in place.  if you ever want to get it out, just a tap will dislodge it.

Thanks all, just let make sure I got this. Place the bushing in the upper and basically wiggle it and it will eventually go in? Or put it in, close the two half's then push front sin in? Sorry for the confusion, wanna get this first retro build completed without destroying anything.

here's what i've done.

  1. clean bushing and upper lug hole w/ acetone

  2. brush a little clear nail polish into the hole

  3. insert bushing

  4. put the upper on lower, push in the rear push pin

  5. look through the front and see if the bushing is rotated correctly to allow pivot pin to go through

  6. if it doesn't remove upper and rotate bushing, the clear nail polish will give you some time to adjust before it dries

  7. when it aligns, push in the front pin and leave overnight to dry

I find the sweet spot, then use super glue to secure it.
