I'm wondering about the timeline of the chrome bolt markings. I know the P is right for 601 - anybody have any idea when the switch to MP was? Anybody have any idea as to the approx. date of last use of chrome bolts?

So much of the detailed information seems to be a little conflicting and very hard to pin down a date. Just from Ekie's guide it might be a safe guess to say late 65 into 66; when the barrels were stamped MP as well. That would be my guess.

Thanks, that link helped a little. I struggle with dating stuff the same way I do at work - we know X came before Y, but not exactly when. Oh well. I guess we're doing better here, though, as we've got it down to a couple years, instead of a few hundred or 20-30.
