OK, now I know it's been a while, but it seems like every now and then somebody comes in here and decides to build an H&R specific rifle.  As I understand it, H&R uppers are more rare than Colt uppers.

I'm just wondering if NDS has given any consideration to reproduction H&R A1 uppers, or if they even COULD reproduce the distinctive forge flashing?

I can't do anything until the next batch is machined.

They all have the flash removed on the front and rear surfaces.

If you guys really, really, want some with the flash left on we can do it, but I'm going to need a head count.

ETA: I assume you want the "NDS" forge code removed also.

NO...Leave it...

I'm concerned that if the "NDS" forge code is removed that they may be passed off as Colt made ones...

Which would mean that if they were finished black, they would naturally be a good match to the black NDS A1 lowers!

Win, win^^

Leave the logo, I am proud of the NDS on my 603 upper. I was showing off my early 603 build to a couple of my wifes tacticool m4gery relatives around Christmas time, I was asked "What did you do to get this tight? It doesn't twist like mine." ...Me, "That's the way NodakSpud makes 'em." LOL, priceless.

At Lima, Ohio gun show this am, a dealer had an H&R upper, flash front and rear, MP between FSB legs and a C 1" behind A1 FH.  Black refinish. New AR15 bolt, carrier and internals in an RRA lower with A1 furniture.  Asking $800 and he was pretty confident he would get it.  Subtract the value of the unusable parts, would seem to make an H&R repop upper economically viable.

I agree I have two that I have been collecting parts for for a long time and if you re pop the uppers and take the nds off they could be passed off as the real thing they could say they were GMs also not a good idea IMO.

Which is why I'd like them to retain the "NDS" forge codes.  I'm thinking that perhaps other things could be done to make them distinctive.

For example, my NDS C7 upper has some scribing or electro-pencil numbers on the back of the rear lug, and a very interesting colt style proof mark that reads [N]...
I wonder if the "N" proof marks could be added somewhere inside the upper, like up inside the charging handle slot, or maybe on the rear lug?

This is what I was thinking.I would not want the NDS stamp on it.I do understand why people want it on there though.

I stamped the "N" on the NDS-C7B, NDS-604, and NDS-32's.

I might be able to put it on one of the lugs.

you know, amazing isn't quite adequate to describe mike and harland's dedication, commitment, and willingness to listen to pie in the sky "i wish" comments. the fact that a OWNER of a manufacturer  would take the time and effort to hand stamp a run of custom made niche lowers is mind bogggling.
you think (insert manufacturer here) would do it?
hell no!
thanks agian guys,
ok embarrasing emotional display over
carry on.

I like the N stamp where the Colt proofs normally are.  Maybe you could do a VR in a triangle for Verified Retro?

I do too, in fact, I think that all NDS uppers would benefit from it in addition to the "NDS" forge codes.  The uppers would just look weird without the code.

What about stamping inside the receiver, in the milled out area for the cam pin?  Is there enough room there?  If you stamp the inside, the uppers will look clean / accurate on the outside but can be identified by looking inside.

I prefer the N proof marks.
I do like the VR idea.

Also I suggest leaving the NDS forge codes.
That way they can't be easily sold as original H&Rs.
They would have to remove the NDS forge code, get rid of the N proof mark, and refinish, which right now would make it not feasible to deceive someone.
Plus I think NDS shouldn't remove their name from any of their products due to the pride they obviously have in their work.

"VR" stands for Victoria Regina, and one mustn't disparage the Royal Cipher of the Queen.
