Recently purchased a SP1. I am very much inexperienced in retro Colt rifles. The serial is SP20844. Can anyone tell me when this was produced or any other info. The rifle is in excellent shape with the tool kit still in plastic. Traded some night vision for the rifle. It is in excellent shape . Not looking for a value as I just like it for the history and intend to keep it in the safe.

Traded about $2000 to $2500 in night vision equipment for the rifle. Not what I paid for the night vision equipment but the retail value. Love the rifle but have not had the chance to use it. It has no forward assist.

If the serial number is 20844, that would put it in the 1973 production run (according to the SP1 database tacked on this forum). If you can share some photos, I'm sure you'll get plenty of info here.
