I know that all of us here are pretty much into anything retro when there are AR15's involved so, just fun I thought I'd test your retro AR15 movie knowledge.
Take a look at the following screen shots and try to identify the movies that they came from.
I picked screen shots that actually have pretty well known stars in them. I could have picked scenes that just show "extras" but, this is just for fun.
Two of the movies should be pretty easy to identify to anybody into military movies.
Two are a bit more difficult.
The winner will receive.............................................. nothing but the admiration of his/her fellow AR15 Forum members.

well I know the first 3, but who is the geek in #4?
1) We were soldiers
2) Heartbreak Ridge
3) Tropic Thunder-a seriously stupid movie....

Why no pic from a classic like Apocalypes Now or Hamburger Hill?

4) American Graffiti

#4 More American Graffiti,  "The Toad" going for a self inflicted gunshot wound to get out of 'Nam. The sequel is nowhere near as good as the first American Graffiti.

I remember the retro M16s in movies threads a few months ago and thought of this one.  Did this make it in the thread?  Is this an A1?  I just did a quick search and came up with a not so great quality picture.

Blues Brothers.  I love the "M16" sound from the older movies.  Blues Brothers, Taps, Platoon, they all have that "pwang pwang" M16 sound.

Carrie Fisher's gun is an SP1 and semi-auto.  I obsessively ran the movie frame by frame to get a good look.  Big screw front pivot and no auto sear pin; plus if you look carefully when she's shooting, she's pulling the trigger over and over.

Here's one for y'all. You win one internet if you can guess the movie OR the actor. While not a "Vietnam" movie, there was a Vietnam tie-in.

And the second internet has now been awarded! Good job, guys. How many have seen this movie; it's pretty obscure.

Last time I saw it was on TV back in the 80's.

That first pic I posted wouldn't make a bad avatar if the resolution was a little better.

Ok, this has gone on long enough. I hope everybody enjoyed this little test. the correct answers are
:
1) We Were Soldiers
2) Heartbreak Ridge
3) Tropic THunder
4) More American Grafitti

I figured the first two would be the easy ones.

#3 Tropic Thonder was just a stupid, fun movie. I have to admit that some of the helicopter shots were really good, as good as some of the serious movies I've seen.

#4 More American Grafitti was the one that I thought would be the hardest ones, which proved to be true. I was amazed how fast it was identified though. I know a lot of people have never even heard of More American Grafitti.
