Here is my attempt at a clone colt 653. I know its far from correct, but the goal was to make a handy, light weight carbine for my wife.

I originally purchased a A1 upper, 6 hole handguards and a flat slip ring from the EE, and a stripped LW barrel from somewhere on the net. I found a nicely mottled A1 PG at a local gun show for $3. I had a no name 4 position stock assembly laying around, bought a stripped CMMG Lower before obama mania set in.

Fast forward to a couple months ago, when i saw a really nice upper for sale on the EE. It was build by ADCO on a brand newMartin Marrrieta A1 upper. Barrel is a DSC (Double Star) 16" A1 profile 1/9" twist chrome lined 5.56 chamber.  Barrel was cut to 14.7" by Adco and A2 (not A1) bird cage FH was pinned and welded to bring to 16" OAL. Sights are Ashley Express with tritium stripe front post.

It was to good to pass up, so it went on the CMMG lower with a CMMG LPK installed with the help of the wife. A RRA bolt and charging handle i had laying around. It has become my favorite AR, its incredibly light and handy. The wife loves it too. Thanks to the retro forum for all of the help. Without further ado, here are pics

And for proof, the wife with her webgear

Plus the red walls will hide the splatter is an intruder has the misfortune of calling unannounced.

Wife says "thanks for the kind words". Just redeployed, so thanks for reminding me I need to adjust my profile.

I'm pretty lucky that she supports this "hobby"!

Nice carbine––lightweight firearms rule!

Hey––just a quick suggestion.  You said this is now your favorite AR, which implies that you have others.  I was just thinking––we're all big AR fans here.  Why don't you go ahead and post photos of all of them?  You know, one at a time.
And, hey––to make it easier for you, maybe your wife could help?  She could hold the firearms, one after another, while you take multiple photos of each...from various angles.

I'm only suggesting this, of course, in the interest of our hobby.  We all enjoy seeing fine things (meaning your gun collection, naturally).

Nice 653.
I like lightweight carbines too.

No offense, but I refrain from commenting about other guy's wives.
But yes, more rifle pictures please.
With or without models.

I'm going to give you some advice wheter you want it or not. Get yourself a good safe, one that no one can ever get into and lock that baby away. Keep your mouth shut on what you have. You want to keep that for a long long  time so play it safe and smart.

Also, get a safe for your 653 as well.

Nice carbine, hot wife.  My 654 replica is the best handling of my AR's, I can see why you like that 653.  Mine is built on an A2 lower as well, I have some NDS A1's, but too lazy to put the LPK in.

So you assembled it with the help of your wife?

She's an armorer and an operator. You are a luck man.
