I went to a pawn shop today looking at rifles and they had a SP1 sn# 925xx. They wanted $1299 it is about 95% as the barrel shows a little neglect, not bad but some. Otherwise it looks to not have been fired much at all.

What I was wondering was. The port cover plate was square not rectangle is that correct? And don't these have the large front pin?

It should have the large front pin and my 1978 SP1 has a square port cover plate.

Was it square like the top door or like the A2 on the bottom? According to the SP1 data base that rifle could of very possibly had one like the top door.

I think it was ramped not flat. I don't recall for sure. I was also at the local class 3 dealer looking at some nice early colts he had. If the guy who has makes a decent trade I'll have pics monday.
