Shot my retro again the other day.  The A1 stock I bought came with a plastic buttplate.  Thing keeps slipping off my shoulder.  Is there a source for steel buttplates with sharper checkering?  Thanks.

Prob'ly not. If you need more stick, maybe one of the slipover recoil pads with a softer surface.

Or, if you're running a type "E" stock with the trapdoor, maybe change over to a type "D". It's solid, with no trapdoor, but it does have a little softer rubber pad and serrations. It's a straight changeout.

The A2 buttplate is not steel but it does have rougher checkering.  I have one on my A1 but that is so I dont crack the A1 buttplate.

THe A2 buttplate is plastic with heavy checkering.  The port door should be Aluminum.

I wish they had used aluminum on all the buttplates - the plastic ones always crack at some point.

I swear the buttplate on my A2 I was issued in Basic Training was metal.  No mistaking the sound of them being tapped on the ground during D&C.

RBP makes a solid aluminum buttplate.  I have one on a target rifle; they balance a heavy barrel 20" rifle.
Not for pencil barrel carbines.  And they are not retro.  I think they are called "door knockers"
