I have assembled this some time ago, so its time do some pictures.
This is the 601 parts rifle that a member  had on gunbroker last year.
I 'won' the auction declining the lower so it would ship directly to me.

I had been accumulating  for my own Retro 601, and had gathered all necessary parts, when this 601 parts rifle showed up on auction.
I calculated  my actual  cost  should  I win  ......and I went for it.
Well, I have now since sold off all of the items, and parts that I had for /my/ 601, which brought the final cost of the auction 601 to just over $2000 , made my day.......

I kept 4 items from /my/ 601,  BCG, NDS lower, stock and pistol grip, my stock and pistol grip  were a closer match to the hand guards than the very-very nice set that came with it, so I let em go.
Anyhow the pictures are below, and Thanks to this group for all the post I've read thru..... that ultimately answered  questions for me.

Just a thought.... based on the last sale of a set of green furniture at/or about $2112 plus the final bid of $1800 on a 601 barreled upper (no hand guards, and reserve not met) , I feel a lot better considering my net cost.
It is obvious,at least it seems to me, that the only way to recoup your $ from any early build with original parts is to part it out, sad but true I think, at least for the short term.
Anyhow see the pictures.......I always like to look at pictures   :O)

Absolutely beautiful!!!!

I actually fondled that 601 before it went on GB.  I wish I would have had the funds to buy it then.

I'm glad it went to a good home.

Outstanding.  Good job - I like it all, but the lower looks really fantastic.  Not a bad net price either.

Are the waffles NDS and is the bipod a real early one, too?

wouldn't those Colt markings be an infringement?

They change it up so its not exactly like the prancing pony that Colt uses. You have to look real close to see the difference.

I think I've finally noticed the difference! Is it the number of little squares (for lack of a better description) in the globe?

The bottom of the globe doesn't touch the outer circle, the horse's mane is different, looks like they left the line of the horses rump open, the line at the front of the rear leg go's high into the body, etc, etc

fxxxxking beatiful thing....if it would be real....cannot imagine...Colt makings are a fake and that is the only thing that isen't that nice.....blasphemy to do it ,,,but anything else..its a perfect repro of a great great gun..highest salute from Europe

Gotcha. The number of squares in the globes is different as well, though.

If I remember correctly,it was Hbar or his wife who drew up the design for his rifle as seen in his avatar sometime last year.

Overall I like the Ident marking style a little better.  Seems much finer detail.
