I'm building up a retro XM16E1 style but I want to make it as accurate as possible.  sending it to the smith this weekend for a recrown & headspacing.  anyone ever heard of freefloating methods/products for the old hogs?  like a DCM-legal triangle handguard tube or something similar?  I've got the rock river 2-stage trigger there on the inside.  can't recommend it enough, it's gorgeous.

You can use any DCM legal free float tube for it, A1s and A2s use the same handguard cap.

Some one (can't remember where I saw it or who makes it) has a tube that screws on the the receiver to lock the barrel in but is made to install the standard handguards on it.  The rifle won't look like its got a free float tube, it'll look like its got handguards.

I've been searching but haven't run across it yet.

I think you may have to relieve some material out of the inside of the handguards to make it fit, but it CAN be done.
