Does any one have a clean, clear photo of the engraving on an original 4.5" moderator?
I'm looking for several things: Was the engraving randomly applied somewhere on the circumference or was it usually in the same spot in relation to the wrench flats? Was the moderator timed so the engraving ended up in a certain position when installed? Most pictures appear to be around 3-6 o'clock position. The pictures I have found are a little blurry. I need a clean one - you know - just to look at. |
Not the greatest...

Mine seem to line on the bottom half 3-9 o'clock position, all of mine are from the same production run with Colt's Mfg. Co. Inc. markings. They all seem to line up with Colt's Mfg. Co. Inc. centered on a wrench flat, however they do not all time the same, depends on the barrel and lock washer. http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr287/red6actual/MOD.jpg so the bottom line is a serial number |

Who makes a reasonable facsimile right now, ( that answers emails too) The J&T one has no flats for a wrench. Not that you can take it off once its on anyway. Either 45bravo or Brick. Here's a link to Brick's post......Mod.. I do know he's currently out until he makes some more. |

Sorry to be late to the game as usual,
The prints are out there if you look for them,
Of course if you build one to those specs, good luck with ATF. In terms of the ATF and "Moderators", just look at the most recent fiasco with the GSG Rifles http://www.americantactical.us/ "On January 2010 American Tactical Imports Inc received official notification from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives that the original barrel shroud (aka: fake suppressor) supplied with your GSG 5 SD model must be replaced. It has been determined that this shroud is regulated under the National Firearms Act." Apparently some idiot with ATF has nothing to do but figure out ways to classify things under NFA. The ATF is also now going after Airsoft Rifles because they could be "modified" into working firearms under the NFA. http://www.firearmstruth.com/2010/owner-of-seized-airsoft-guns-responds Sorry for the rant, but it is a very sad day when this kind of crap goes on at the highest levels of Federal Law Enforcement. Best of Luck, Capt Richardson |

If this moderator was really never a suppressor then why is treated as such? Also where can you find the prints for this thing (for study purposes of course)? If the ATF can show that it reduces "sound" at all they can classify it as a suppressor. That's crazy! Of course that's the Gov't for you! |
