Somewhere on this site I saw a picture of a soldier ( which i can't locate now) with an M16 that had a curious looking bayonet mounted.  The bayonet had what appeared to be a leather washer type grip very similar to the M4 carbine bayonet, but clearly mounted on an M16/AR-15.  Any idea on what this is?  Modified M4?  Early M7? We could use a sub forum for retro gear.

Ralph

Yes Tgus that's it!  The photo was black and white so the synthetic handle appeared to be leather.  What vintage is that anyway?

Oh I don't know, that one has what looks like to me an earlier Colt blade marking than the one that DID NOT meet reserve on Gunbroker at circa $1600.00.

This one may be a good deal with a BIN of $1100.00...maybe. I am not enough of an expert to know. Maybe QUIET would know.

The bayonet the OP was talking about could be the ones like I had one time and SARCO (IIRC) was selling. These looked for all the world like a Ka-Bar knife with muzzle ring and bayonet latch at the rear of the handle. While they were kind of cheap at ~$100 back then, when they appear now they go for more.

EDIT: Never mind, the OP saw the early Colt type, not what I thought.

There is no bayonet on this planet worth that!, but I learned something new so it's all good, especially since it's not my $1600!
