| As alot of you guys know I try to either forward listings to guys who are looking for a particular item,or post them here as my way of thanking all who have helped me over the past year. What I want to know from you guys is this,,has anyone ever found anything worthwhile on auctionarms.com. ? I only look there when I'm REALLY bored. If you do find good stuff, what search words do you use? Thanks in advance. |

I used to find stuff there (mainly M203 parts) but then pretty much abandoned AA for GunBroker.
I guess now I find 75% of my stuff on GunBroker and 25% on the Original EE. I ocassionally check AA when I'm real bored but haven't found anything there in a long time. It might be a good place to search occasionally as you might find a great bargin that few of us will find since they don't seem to have much retro items. I have some defined searches that I use to find retro items that are not marked "retro" on Gunbroker. My main search of GB is: retro -cowboy -sks -glock -clock -sig -mallard -hat -hk |

Auction Arms used to be pretty good, but their selection has noticeably decreased in recent years. I'm surprised they're still around. I think I bought by A1-length screw from Auction Arms; everything else I bought on Gun Broker, the EE, and other online classifieds. |
| I have found a few 1911 parts on AA but only go their when I am really looking for a part and everywhere else came up empty. A friend of mine thinks the prices are better because not as many people visit the site. I honestly do not know if this is true or not but he does purchase items there. |

I bought one pistol out of maybe 10 on AA, mostly I use GB, sometimes GA...
I saw an AR-15 for sale on Gunboards.com cheap, but it had the curved mag fence, so I think it was a cast lower... Lemme look... Here was one...Gunboards Member Special: DPMS A-15 Rifle NIB $765 http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?t=120332 Here's the one...wts-retro ar15 & ak47 http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?t=143821 "preban essential arms J15 lower with a colt slick side upper & original triangle handgards, $900 +shg"... Not bad prices IMHO...

I use GB mainly, in fact it has been a long time since I've been to AA just cause what I want is not there most the time.
I'm registered at GunsAmerica too, but find it hard to find things there either cause I don't know how to use their search or their search just sucks. Anybody know how to use their search efficiently? |

Here is a good place to look for parts. I got a few parts for one of my builds here.
http://www.sturmgewehr.com/ |

When I was looking for 601 furniture I wrote a script on my Solaris webserver that used wget to grab the current postings on Sturmgewehr and used grep and awk to search for 601 in the description.
When it found one it sent a text message to me. It searched every 10 minutes. That's how I found my original buttstock and pistol grip. Actually I was working an issue and was not able to get to a computer to send an e-mail to Dean as soon as he had posted. Someone else got the set he advertised, but he had a second set that he sold to me. I don't use the script anymore but should have it somewhere on my old webserver if someone wants to use it or modify it for Linux. |
