Guys - i have a shot at a early Colt AR15 SP1 lower with 4 position cmi stock. What kind of value would you place on it?

We're not allowed to quote prices.
That being said, value would depend greatly upon serial number and condition.
Do you mean early as in  it is an early SP1, or early because it is an SP1?
The stock doesn't add any value as far as I'm concerned.
If it had an original Colt 2-position stock, or even a Type E, it would be worth more.

It is a 1978 SP1.
Not exactly an early one, but it would be a correct year if you want to restore it as an SP1 rifle or carbine.
Carbines were made 1977-1982, rifles were made 1963-1982.
Hammer looks original.
It has the wrong stock and pistol grip.
The PG is no big deal, but correct collapsable stocks are expensive.
Type E buttstocks can be a little pricey, but are not real bad.
If you want to build as a modern carbine (M4 style) then it doesn't matter about the stock and PG.

More info on SP1's can be found HERE if you want to restore it.
I assume since you hang out around here occasionally you want to restore it.
