Ok I don't know the name for the pieces I'm about to refer to, so I'll use this picture I found online and modified (I bought the vinyl acetate stock from EA over a year ago):

I'm sending the tube to US Anodizing, and want to know what I should do about that threaded ring... Can I buy a new one that is grey parked?  I just realized it is steel...  Any suggestions?  Does anyone sell one grey in color?  Thanks in advance!!!

if your lock ring looks exactly like the one on the pic, you don't want to use it.

you want to use one that looks like the one on the Left in this pic

you can get them from Bushmaster

If you want to use that castle nut, and it's made of steel, then rub some Naval Jelly for about 30 sec-1 min. on it and it should turn the proper shade of parked grey.

BTW:  It's a castle nut or some call them stock locking nuts.

+1 on the bushmaster lock ring... You can also try the naval jelly trick to the one you have.I've never done it,so hopefully someone will jump in with better instructions. But basically you cover the steel (steel only, will NOT work on aluminum) with naval jelly.Watch it carefully.Rinse off and coat with oil.Coat time apparently is different with different parts, but members have had spectacluar results.Last post about it was with one of these lock rings a few weeks ago. Results were fantastic.Member did before and after pics. Good luck.

Thanks guys, the problem is, mine looks like it is blued.  It isn't a black parkerized castle nut (thanks for the term).  I don't think naval jelly will work.  I guess I gotta make another purchase from Bushmaster... Unless anyone has one floating around!
