| Yep. I think the 655 and 656 were prototyped in the early to mid 1970's judging by the Leatherwood/Realist scopes. Hope somebody weighs in on that. I came across one of these same scopes as in your pic at a gunshow. The dealer that had it was from Florida, I've got a business card somewhere. I wish I had a lot of money because i would have definately bought it and the Redfield ART they had. |

Interesting. Of course you did notice the blue area: http://www.pullig.com/pics/weapons/model655.jpg Naturally! However, the heavy barrel is something well documented. |

Interesting...I was more interested in this front sight & base... http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc61/klassistailmaa/model656.jpg Check http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=123&t=462899 for another interesting discussion on that one. |

Say...Did anyone else notice... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n171/Der_Hans/model655.jpg when I first noticed the use of a delta ring on that model, I figured somebody just got tired of struggling with a flat slip ring when the scope was installed. But then I saw the pics of the 656 which is pretty much a optics dedicated upper with the standard flat slip ring.. so who knows what they were thinking back then
postino does the fsb on the 656 look cast to you? I'm surprised you haven't made one or two for yourself already |

I'm surprised you haven't made one or two for yourself already It looks like a std .750" FSB with the inside flash/reinforcing removed...and the ears shaved, and slotted for a hood...Not too difficult to make, I think...Don't know about cast/forged... I'm curious as to what the top of the humped upper looks like...there must be a channel for the iron sights, but how much and how deep???

Very nice looking base...I like the squared off edges...The dovetail idea doesn't turn me on however...
