I have been wanting to build an AR similar to the one I had in the Army, I did basic in 85. Unfortunately no pics that I have found so I am having to work from memory. The clearest detail is that the lower receiver was marked Colt AR-15, the model number was M16A1 (if I remember correctly). Trap door stock, birdcage hider, round forward assist (there was a mix of the older flash hiders and teardrop assists in the unit). I am looking for more of the the feel and general appearance than precise details. (might change if I find some pics!) I currently have a CMMG MOD4SA lower receiver that I can start with, I also have a bolt carrier from converting my A2 to the CMMG Piston system. I am looking at the M-16A1 upper from Gunnyssurplus, can anyone confirm that my bolt carrier should work with this (Is that a standard part or have their been changes in it?)

Thanks,

Rob

The bolt carrier assemblies are interchangable. For the sake of safety, be sure to check headspace.
