I'm finally thinking about a 602 build.  Anyone know where I can find a 602 stock?  I used to hav a few of them lying around, but got rid of them and haven't seen one in years.  How hard are they to find?  Are they expensive?

Same here - where are all the 602 stocks and why do they cost more than a 601 stock ?

ali059 has them all. ALL OF THEM!

I used to have really nice one till I sold it, not knowing what it was & how rare they were.

So let us see the rest of it! From what I can see that looks pretty cool, with the heavy mottling & all.

Call Steve at SirPlus and butter him up a little.   I'll bet the cat and the goldfish that he has a few.

Just as I thought, very nice!

Can you tell me the width of the buffer tube hole from one side of the stock (outside edges) to the other? I used to have the info written down, but cannot find it now. Also just use a standard tape measure, I don't have any fancy calipers or gauges.

Thanks,

Yeah no problem except the gun is home & I am at work right now, so I'll just PM you the info later on tonight; if someone else doesn't chime in first.
Are you looking to make a clone out of a "D" stock? I thought about doing that as well until I hooked up on the above "C". I would really enjoy seeing what you come up with.

No problem, a PM would be great.

No there is no clone in my future, just want the info again for "possible" Type C's in ads & auctions. Just something to help describe a "C" to someone that does not know.

Thanks Dan.

OK so a 602 stock is identified by how thin it is at the buffer tube meeting point?

My 602 stock is very thin in all dimensions, lightweight hollow feeling.  It has a different angle off the rear receiver extension. They usually have parked swivels unless it has been changed out.  There are some examples in Ekie's variation guide tacked at the top of this forum.

Dapper Dan - that rifle is Veh Nice, Veh Nice! The stock on my 603 is heavily mottled, but not that much. It's also not a Type C. I sure wish I'd bought that 602 upper a couple of years back that I saw at a gun show, but didn't know what it was.

So basically a "602" stock doesn't have the rubber coated swivel?

Well there are a lot things to represent a 602 stock.....

I you check out the rifle guide  post from ekie on the top of the page you can see these.

One is the thickness where the stock meets the buffer tube. It is VERY thin here.
The other is the color.....NEW 602 stocks have a dull shine to them, going to a shiny snow flake look with use. Not many 602 stocks out there in new to near new finish
The area that has a hole to fill the foam, or commonly known as drain hole is either missing or offset a much smaller then the 604 stocks.

Were 602 stocks ever used on the 605 carbine.  I have one and was planning on using it for my 605 build and was wandering if it would be correct.

Colt went to type D stocks by the time the 605 came out.

You mean if I take an average trapdoor stock, take off the rubber coating on the swivel and park it, It will then be an early 603?

Guess I was not the only one to call him. I called him on Thursday, & he did not even know there was a difference then.

Dang !  I owe you the cat and the goldfish !!  Be careful when you open the box, he may be irritated after a long flight.

I guess he sold them all.  He used to have a couple pallet loads of stocks a year ago, and at that time he didn't know what the deal was with mottled stocks, or 602's, etc.  He's obvuously been wised up since then.
