Here it is.  Only a couple of things I  need to get fixed.  Need a grey mag release button and a non-drain hole stock screw.  Other than that it's pretty close to what a 603/XM16E1 should be.

I was lucky that the surplus upper i had was a decent match in color.  I Naval Jellied the bolt release, mag catch, and trigger.  The takedown/pivot pins, safety, charging handle and trigger guard was from my box of surplus retro parts.

The upper has the MP btw FSB legs, barrel marked C, forged FSB with flashing removed:

Rack stamps pm the back of the upper and the stock:

Stock has a little left right wobble even though the screw is torqued down pretty tight, is that normal?

Great job. You should not get any movement in the buttstock really. Handguards yes; depends how used they are. Could be that little male tab that goes into the receiver is worn. This would cause some movement. That aluminized tape they sell at Ace hardware works wonders for that sort of thing. One of my type Ds is stamped justed like yours. Kinda neat.

Looks good!  Now you just need to drive the cosmetic roll pin!

Great looking build you got there.

Get you a three prong FH & a chromed bolt carrier (which is the hardest part to find. At least for me it has been.), you'll be dead on for a XM16E1.

Female tabs don't go into anything.
It must be a male tab.

I like that rifle.  See, you guys are a bad influence on me since I want to complete a couple that are in the works now.

Yes, the bad influences of this group can be costly...VERY costly.

ok so what sling?  black cotton sling or seatbelt sling?

i put the rollpin in.  since i only have one chrome bolt carrier, it's going on my 602 so this will be considered a late 603 with the A1 and phosphate bolt carrier.

I'd go with a 'seatbelt' or OD web 'Garand/M14' sling...
