Does anyone have any experience with these slick side uppers that Fulton Armory sells. I bought one about a year and a half ago in hopes to build a 604. I was planing on taking the barrel of an A1 upper of mine, and putting it on the slick side. Does anyone know who makes there slick sides, it has a newer dark finish, and the medal to the touch feels lighter than my A1 upper. Just wondering if it’s worth my time. I really want I slick side........ And by the way i am not to much into original colt parts just as long as it looks original

I started to convert one over to 601 configuration, but it ended up on my 45acp SBR instead. I milled off the forge codes and the sight arrow, milled the area under the rear port door pin hole away, and reshaped the area above the CH before I changed my mind and coated it in Norrells.

I just ordered a slick side upper for my 605 build from Fulton. Sourced many things from them over the years. Always top notch. Any reason why you didn't go with an NDS-605 upper? That is the one I plan on using when I finally get around to building a 605. I think the milled hump is one of the major things that makes the 605 really unique. Unfortunately my 605 project is several builds from now so I'm not even collecting parts for it yet. |

| I have had one for a while now (purchased before Nodak started making theirs) but only recently got it together. It is on my Lt Wt. non-retro build so I will not boar everyone with pictures. I only have 200 rounds through it and it is running without any issues. The finish was a little built up at the notch for the barrel index pin so I had to force the barrel in a little but it went together fine. |

I also bought one before Nodak started making theirs. I bought it for (I thought) a 601 build, then when I got all the mods done,
Nodak came out with their NDS-32 uppers. My NDS-601 lower had such a low SN that I HAD to use it on the 32. That put my 601 project on the far back burner, and since then, I got bit by the 602 bug and realized that my Fulton upper is just one Orion engraving (and one USAnodizing) away from being a 602!! So many ideas, so few dollars... |

Due to the shortage of suitable barrels I've decided to use my mid length dissy to build a 605ish replica. As I'm using a black lower the Fulton will work great. My main focus at the moment is gathering the parts for a NDS-32 build I've planned. |

Here's one on a 16" mid length. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/Parrandero/IMG_0435.jpg Looks great. |
| Wow. Exactly like that. Good job. Mines an ADCO cruiser with mid length gas. I've already got a set of mottled A1 handguards releif cut to fit plus the other furniture etc. Just waiting on the Fulton upper. Oh and did I get lucky. I ordered two flat slip rings from Sir Plus planning to use one on the dissy and thinking I'd have to paint it black. Got the package Saturday and lo and behold one of the rings is indeed black or at least purple. Perfect. |

I was kinda sorta planning on going retro but really just ended up with a bunch of parts that I like. I have really long arms but for some reason I like the A1 buttstock. The lower is a regular old Doublestar which matches the upper just about perfectly. The barrel is a DTI 1-9" 'M4' and the front site is a set screw type that I still need to get more permanently attached. I kept the bayonet lug on it in the hopes that I one day manage to cut down and reweld a bayonet so I can 'use' it. There's a chrome slick side carrier in there and I went with a delta ring. I had round handguards on there for a while but actually like the way the triangles feel better. The rifle shoots and handles really well in my opinion. I've heard of other 'dissapators" being really front heavy. With a cleaning kit in the buttstock and a loaded 20 round mag ,rifle balances on a finger halfway between the scope mount hole and the front of the carry handle. My only AR but one of my favorite guns. My question for you is did you cut down the A1s to fit the midlength or are you going full length like mine? |

Same configuration really only my gas system is a midlength vs say a carbine length dissipator. It places my gasblock closer to the front sight base therefore I had to cut away(relieve) a portion of the aluminum heat shield in order use the A1 hanguards. The barrel I'm using is a custom unit from ADCO. Way too expensive but what the hell nothing else was available. I'll post pics when I get her together. |
