I know most of the guys here are familiar with the fine work 45Bravo does, as well as the customer service he is known for, and that's beyond just being a valuable member of this board - well, he's finally done it! Ever since I can remember, he's been modifying Bushmaster XM177 moderators to look more correct, but with his usual attention to detail, wouldn't settle for that, and has been trying to duplicate the look of a REAL Xm177 moderator.
The main thing that's different is the front profile - the inside of the real thing is tapered something I can imagine is very hard to do. You guys should really check out pg6 of his ad in the EE for pics. I just recently bought a 607 type moderator from him threaded for a 9mm barrel, so that shows you how he is another example, like NDS, of a small company that listens to us, and shares our passion for making historically accurate retro rifles and carbines. It's taken awhile Pat, but you did it - Looks great! |

I was under the impression the real ones don't work that well. I thought they weren't worth the asking price + $200 stamp. Not to mention since you would be manufacturing an NFA item, you'd need an 07 FFL license to mfg. From what I understand it simply reduced the report to regular 20" M16 levels - hardly worth it. Besides, the internal baffles would require a lot of machine work. Even if it wasn't an NFA item it would be expensive as hell to mfg IMO. |

The dedicated .22 barrel's chamber is about 1.5" back from where the .223 chamber sits, so the barrel looks like a 14.5". It'd look so sweet with the XM177 hider pinned. |

I'm wondering how much noise that .22 combo would put out with CBs or subsonic cartridges? Hmmm. Probably very little. .22 CB shorts out of a 16" rifle barrel sound like a BB gun. I've never tried .22 LR CBs or the Aguila subsonics, though. I have my doubts about them cycling the action. |
