Thanks to all you guys who answered my question about when SP series started,,now for a new one. Available to me is an SP1 carbine original owner purchased it  in the early 80's... I'll check SN to see actual manufacture date....No FA,No bump. The lower is what you guys refer to as a "slabside"...Would you guys rebuild to an XM type ,601,604,or is it worth keepin it original...If you would retro it,what version would you go for..ALL opinions welcome.....Thanks...

I would keep it as an original.
But that may not be what you want it for.
So do with it how you will.

I would definitely keep it as is, but that's just because I want an SP1 carbine more than any other rifle.

I'd keep it as a SP1 carbine

I have one from the early eighties, and wouldn't change anything on it.

Besides now that we have the  Nodak Spud uppers and lowers, and Bushmaster and CMMG barrels available (well sometimes we do), why tear up an original?
