| I am planning on finishing up my 607 build and need a 14.5 barrel cut to 12.5in, and the fake moderator pinned and soldered. Who is doing barrel work these day's? Also a side note, with the new 607 pics, is it an easier job to pin the stock yourself, now that we know the rod can enter the lower? I am pretty sure the Nodak stock weld hole is the same diam as the 607 rod. It should be a simple job to elongate the existing hole right??? It just looks a little easier than it did before! |

M607's had 10" barrel & no bayonet lug.
Yep check 45Bravo The stock hole (bottom is 1/2") Be carefull not to drill it too far & into the buffer retaining pin hole. I first tried a Forester wood bit, but it wouldn't cut the aluminum. For the roll pin, I drilled mine through the right side first through the detent spring hole to hold the detent spring & on an angle downward to the left side. This gives it more bite as if you drill straight through it is not centered through the rod. |

This will give you more "bite" into the rod, but you don't need much of a "bite" into the rod, it is steel. FSBs hold to the barrel real well with the pins being not only off center, but only partially intersecting the OD of the barrel. The higher on the receiver you can drill the hole straight through and still capture the detent spring the better as far as strength goes. Drilling straight through and up high puts the hole through thicker aluminum in the receiver. This makes the stock/receiver assembly stronger. ETA: Drilling higher will make the joint stronger IMHO, but it looks right if you drill it just above center for the rod and just below center for the detent spring. |
