The specs for the below pic in the Retro Real-Deal thread says it has a grenade ring... what is that?

Also, I found a XM177 on an auction site, and it looked like a normal 5.5in supressor, did not have the bump then the moderator like in the pic below... is that the grenade ring?  if so is that a seperate attachment that needs to go on before the moderator?

And finally where can I get the moderator(and gas ring if its separate?

The grenade ring is the ring behind the moderator but ahead of the FSB. It's for attaching the grenade launcher to the rifle a la the M203. Period moderators were 4.5" not 5.5".

Check with 45Bravo on the EE. He sells both repro moderators and grenade rings.
