This is one of my favorite books and is a must read for any Nam freak...it is easily found for over $100 dollars...not sure if they started to publish it again or if they found a box...I have ordered two more copies myself...

here is a link...

Great book! I scored mine off Amazon IIRC. Even used copies are expensive, due to it being recommended reading at the Army War College (and I wouldn't be surprised to find out at Annapolis & AF Academy as well.) It is textbook anti-terrorism. What I found interesting was their use of suppressors - they put them on not just sniper rifles, but belt fed machine guns as well! Consider how terrifying that would be to the enemy, mown down by an 'invisible' machine gun. Of course, they still made noise, but it had to be damn near impossible to locate them, under heavy fire, in the jungle. I recommend it highly. I think I paid $35.

People need to remember that it was the U.S. Govt that trained Mao Tse Tung and Ho Chi Minh in guerilla tactics during WWII - we supplied them with arms and advisors, just as we did the Taliban, Noriega and others. In every case, it seems to come back and bite us on the ass. Sometimes I think we are our own worst enemy.

My favorite line is from Wagemueller, about the Viet Minh: "They fought like a pack of rabid rats, and we treated them accordingly. ..."

Edited to fix quote.

I've never read this one, but I've seen some excerpts from it.
They were some bad dudes.

I used to work with a retired Sgt Major that had an NCO in Viet Nam that was in the Wehmacht, defected to the Russians, deserted the Red army, joined the Legion, and then later the US Army.

Talk about combat experience.
