Since we're talking Reed Knight.  You may enjoy this:  American Rifleman TV - Knight Armament Corporation Pt I

I wouldn't mind being the lucky soul who inherits Mr. Knights collection.

WOW Simply amazing  Check  "ARTV  Eugene Stoner  Part 1 and Part 2  on Youtube  I can't make the link hot.

Fantastic footage of the first Ar's and Stoners being fired.  That AR10 on full auto looks like a bear to handle on FA.

I've drooled over the pictures many times in the past.
I finally watched the American Rifleman show on Eugene Stoner with Reed Knight and Reed Knight says that Number 4 has wooden handguards.
I never knew that!
Makes me want to see close up pictures of Number 4.
Anyone got pictures?
I'll check The Black Rifle tonight and see if there are any.
I only found this one in Buddy Hinton's/ SMCLee's pictures:

I know I've seen a close up pictures of #4 with the shiny slip ring, but I don't know where I saw it.

Found it!
I didn't realize the handguards and stock were wooden until I heard Reed Knight say it was.

Here's my wooden Prototype AR:

I need to do something to preserve my wood.
I need to go back through the old posts, someone(m1sniper?) suggested something that they do to their military stocks.

I need some John Deere green paint too.

I use boiled linseed oil on my stocks.

But I did find what I was looking for, too...For measurements and general scoping it out...I wasn't sure how closely the reinforcing "scallops" on the 25 round magazine matched the 20 rounder...

I think I got it right...

What're you painting green??? I hope it's not something that voids the warranty...

Thank you for this thread gentlemen.
I have spent the last 2.0 hours perusing Reed Knights collection via the *b hinton* photos followed by the American Rifleman TV segments on Knight and Stoner and ended up with Mr Emory debating the merits of the M14 vs M16.
A nice way to end my day.

I need to paint a magazine.

Recipe I use was found in an old M1 garand national match  military TM manual. It's a one to one to one mix of the following Distilled white vinigar,Boiled linseed oil,Turpentine.Apply generously, let sit 5 - 10 minutes (not too long as it will get gummy) then wipe down well. Really brings out that nice redish brown as on the 03 springfield and M1 garands.
Tex,that's one SAWEEEETT rifle!
